Fentanyl is an incredibly potent synthetic opioid primarily used for pain relief. It is estimated

to be 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. While prescribed for severe pain, illicitly manufactured fentanyl has contributed to the opioid crisis, posing a significant danger.

 

The reason fentanyl is so perilous is its potency. Even a small amount can have a profound impact

leading to overdose and death. Mixing it with other substances, such as heroin or cocaine,

without knowledge further increases the risk. 

 

Fentanyl depresses the central nervous system, potentially causing respiratory depression and arrest. 

Even minor dosage miscalculations can have life-threatening consequences.

PRINCE ( 1958-2016 )

The renowned musician Prince died in 2016 from an accidental fentanyl overdose. Fentanyl was found in his system, and it was determined to be the cause of his death.

 

TOM PETTY ( 1950-2017 )

The legendary rock musician Tom Petty died in 2017 from an accidental overdose of several medications, including fentanyl. The medical examiner determined that fentanyl toxicity was a contributing factor in his death.

 

MAC MILLER ( 1992-2018 )

The American rapper and songwriter died in 2018 from an accidental overdose involving multiple substances, including fentanyl. Fentanyl was found in his system, along with cocaine and alcohol.

 

COOLIO ( 1963-2022 )

While at a friend’s house in Los Angeles, Coolio was discovered unresponsive on a bathroom floor. Coolio died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine.
